Brain Drain from Türkiye: Register Evidence of Non‐Returning Graduates

Globalisation of labour has led to the migration skilled workforce; known as ‘brain drain’. To our knowledge, this paper is first study which analyses brain drain from Türkiye through register evidence non-return bachelors’ degree graduates. The results indicate that rate bachelor’s graduates 3.23 per cent in year 2020. calculated considering 55,918 out total number 1,730,955 most popular destinations are United States America with 22.4 cent, Germany 14.3 and Kingdom 11.6 cent. When field according ISCED-F classification, 12.5 Turkish abroad have electronics automation education, followed by teacher training subject specialisation 8.2 management administration 7.5 it comes gender distribution, males 3.62 2.84 for females. Administrative registers, used based on statements reside abroad. Therefore, actual may even be higher than figures here.
